Raleigh summers give you a whole list of reasons to get outside and spend the day out and about. From June through September, the city comes to life with festivals, live music, fireworks, and weekends that make you love where you live. Whether you’re already a resident at The Mallory or thinking about making Raleigh home, here are some can’t-miss events you’ll want to add to your calendar.

Kick Off Summer with Food, Pride, and Good Vibes

June is one of the best months to get outside and enjoy the city. Kick off the summer at the International Food Festival at City Plaza on June 6, where over 100 vendors and 40,000 people turn downtown into something that feels less like an event and more like a block party. Then, on June 26 and 27, Out! Raleigh Pride takes over with two days and two stages. Think live music, excited crowds, and a downtown that's genuinely buzzing. These two weekends together give you a feel for what Raleigh’s community spirit is all about.

July Brings Fireworks, Rock Legends, and Pop Culture Magic

For the Fourth, head over to Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary for the Independence Day celebration, with the NC Symphony and fireworks over the lake. It's a low-key, gorgeous summer evening, and easy to make a night of it. Then July 23 packs in two options at once: Guns N' Roses at Carter-Finley Stadium (55,000 seats, bucket-list energy) and GalaxyCon Raleigh running July 23 to 26, drawing around 30,000 fans for cosplay, comics, and pop culture. Raleigh locals will tell you GalaxyCon snuck up on everyone, and now it's one of the biggest weekends of the summer.

August and September: Arts, Culture, and the Sound of Hopscotch

August kicks off mid-month with CaribMask Carnival on the 15th, a celebration that's loud, colorful, and worth checking out if you haven't been before. Then Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival follows on the 22nd and 23rd in Cary. Fifty years running, 300-plus artists, live music, and a beer garden that makes it easy to stay longer than you planned. Labor Day weekend brings the African American Cultural Festival, one of the most genuinely community-rooted events on the Raleigh calendar. September closes things out with Hopscotch Music Festival, 120-plus artists across 10 downtown venues. If you only make it to one music event all summer, make it Hopscotch.
